Children can ride comfortably, sheltered from the elements, on the back of a bicycle in a bicycle trailer. When choosing a trailer, the most important thing to consider is the child's safety. The clutch system, point of pivot and turn are all important: the trailer shouldn't be attached too stiffly, or too loosely. It should move flexibly, but still be safe to travel in. A safety bar protects against serious accidents, as does a five-point safety belt system and of course, a helmet. A low centre of gravity ensures a safe ride and keeps the risk level for accidents down to a minimum.
